Immigration

As a New Zealand lawyer your right to live and practise in the United Kingdom depends on your immigration status. Because of the provisions of section 8 of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 employers will be sensitive to your eligibility to work so you should include your immigration status on your CV.

At present, UK Immigration law is undergoing considerable change.  Some members of the Society are in the process of updating this page to reflect the latest changes - including those following from recently enacted legislation which will change the situation still further.  The position thus remains fluid, but in the interim the best source of up-to-date information is the United Kingdom Border Agency website.
